Medicare Star Ratings

Understanding the Medicare Star Ratings can be valuable for comparing plans.

What are Star Ratings?

Each year, using information from member satisfaction surveys, plans and health care providers, the federal Medicare program awards between 1 and 5 stars to a plan as its Overall Star Rating*. A 5-star rating is the highest.

Some of the areas Medicare reviews for these ratings include:

  • How our members rate our plan’s services and care
  • How well our doctors detect illnesses and keep members healthy
  • How well our plan helps our members use recommended and safe prescription medications
  • HAP’s 2017 Medicare Star Ratings.
